CASA/Guardian ad Litem Training Schedule
Chelan-Douglas CASA (Court Appointed Special
Advocate) Program will begin training new volunteers soon.
PLEASE CHECK BACK HERE OFTEN! CASAs are every-day citizens, from all walks of life, who are
trained to advocate for the needs of neglected and abused children.
CASA volunteers are thoroughly screened and receive 30+ hours of
training on topics including child development, child abuse, sexual
abuse, chemical dependency, the court system, cultural diversity and
more. The volunteer commitment is approximately 7-15 hours per month
and involves interviewing all parties connected with the case and
writing a report to the court about the findings.
Volunteers are carefully guided throughout the process by the CASA
staff and receive on-going training. "CASA volunteers are an
extremely important part of protecting children in our community. The
work that our advocates do makes a big difference in the life of a
child and is a very satisfying experience for the volunteer" explains
CASA Program Director, Sue Baker.
To register for this
important training, please call the CASA office at 509-662-7350.
Thanks!
